Amidst the many leaks and reports about players West Ham are tracking this summer window, several names that were consistently linked with the club are now seemingly off the radar. Speculation continues as to whether this is due to the club currently operating without a Technical Director, which may be stalling progress on any potential deals.

With Graham Potter in desperate need of cover at right- back and possibly left-back, should Emerson depart, the club have denied they are interested in free agent Kyle Walker-Peters despite his flexibility to play on both flanks.
Elsewhere, central midfielder Yunus Musah, who has been linked to West Ham for a number of years looks set to begin talks with Nottingham Forest. AC Milan have slapped a £20m price on the players head. Although West Ham have scouted Musah in the past, it’s understood that Graham Potter is not pursuing him.
Raphael Onyedika at Club Brugge has also been mentioned, and is in the last year of his contract at the Belgium club. However one source claims that West Ham have denied interest.  A lack of decisive action has already seen West Ham miss out on two highly rated youngsters – Swiss sensation Ardon Jashari who is reportedly set to join AC Milan, and Habib Diarra who is signing for Sunderland in a £30m deal from Strasbourg.
The Hammers were also looking to close a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, yet have fallen behind Tottenham who are reportedly close to finalising a deal.
In attack with the impending departure of Michail Antonio, the club are left with only one recognised senior striker, Niclas Fullkrug. Links to Lucas Stassin are correct, yet West Ham have not followed this up with any offer to AS St Etienne. Meanwhile, other clubs are circling, with RC Lens offering a loan to buy deal, yet St Etienne are holding out for a full £15m sale.  Even more frustrating, a long-time Tim Steidten striker target Igor Jésus will now join Nottingham Forest at the end of the CONCACAF finals.
The transfer window still has some way to go, with plenty more twists and turns expected before it closes on Monday September 1st. Perhaps after years of leaking interest in all and sundry, the Hammers have finally wised up and are keeping their moves quiet? How we wish this were true – but experience suggests otherwise: Time will tell.

I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties, so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter. I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past.

Quite an ironic article when you consider the amount of transfer news this site leaks

I keep hearing “no money until we sell”.Ok I accept that, but then I hear that the board can put in £90m.Where is that? Are other clubs using West Ham’s suggestions of who they want to sign because every time we mention a player he seems to be going somewhere else.Do we want them or not? Seems that nothing has changed!

Same old board, “ fake it until you make it”

We have had enough of the leaked links to available players that are fake, the media focus on players we have turned down
    .

We are not linked to any player, fact! PROVE ME WRONG!

We have seen it winter window after winter window. The only thing missing is the board statement saying we are here to back the manager, cash was available, the kicker will be how they cover off with the fans why they did not provide new cover any players who have left us.

Potter has gone completely off the media radar, quite ridiculous really as he spent the first part of the transfer market on holiday.

No they have not wised up, they just feed up with begin made look stupid! Board said they would put their money in and we’ve still got the same thing, missing out on targets they say they want. We will struggle next season and it will be down to Sulivan and his board, not the manager who I expect to get sacked along the way

Maybe, just maybe, there’s a lot of inaccurate speculation going on in the world of football transfers ?
Across the premiership and beyond, there’s a whole industry based upon this.
Just relax and enjoy the weather 🌞

      I agree.

There are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of football pundits and commentators desperate for content.

It used to be only red tops that filled their back pages with speculation. Each writer would put players and teams together knowing that if guessed often enough they would be correct once and then be able to say “You Read I Here First” and appear like football’s Nostradamus.

      Now everyone is at it.

Exactly this. If we, as fans, get upset everytime we don’t sign a player that some obscure source links us to, a player that in truth we may have no interest in, then it’s going to be a long and disappointing summer.

  • Martyn says:

Unfortunately I don’t think West Ham have any firm plans. I’m not convinced they know who they want to buy and it will be last minute slim pickings. Definitely have not shown any ambition to date, sadly I fear relegation fight looms.

West Ham, wise up ? Not with the buffoons who run ???? this club.

  • Zahama says:

C&H take the line that we need a Director of Football (which might be correct) and sometimes imply that if Tim Steidten was still around we would have signed loads of players. That might be true, but I tend to agree with the view of Moyes and Potter that we need players of the right character.
While Duran is no doubt a very talented player I am not sure that his character is the best – the fact that Emery was happy to see him go and that he is now leaving Saudi Arabia after 6 months would suggest that we may in fact be better off not having signed him
I am also not sure about Alvarez – I like him as a player but it has been suggested that he fell out with all three West Ham managers at some point and I seem to remember him also falling out with the Mexican manager

I think that we just need to be patient and hope that we get some good players who will be around for a long time (as has been the case with Bowen, Antonio and Soucek among others)
