Nothing to lose tonight – so let’s see top kids

|

I would love to believe that Josh Pask, Nathan Holland (above right) and Josh Cullen (below right) will be involved in tonight’s squad against Manchester United.

Sadly I don’t think it will happen with the manager and club possibly  more focused on a finishing position than blooding youngsters.

I’d be delighted to be proved wrong and that at the very least the exciting Holland gets some minutes down the right wing where we have had no penetration at all this season and where the former Everton youngster can be lethal.

Like his former under 23 skipper Declan Rice this is a player with everything before him and one who may well have been involved this season but for an injury which kept him out until February.

Josh Pask has looked an incredibly exciting prospect at the centre of defence and deserves a chance of a place in the action for a few minutes at the least.

Cullen is becoming a squad regular and looking pretty tidy – all three deserve to know they are in the first team frame and hopefully will at the very least be on the bench.

A tiny cameo performance will do their confidence the world of good at this stage of the season and show the fans that there’s a lot to come from our academy.

Go on Dave do it mate if there’s nothing to lose in the match situation.

I think considering how many transfers we are going to need and how stingy our owners are we need to take what we can get. 2 million gaps between each place means finishing 10th instead of 15th will fund a decent signing. It’d be nice to see some kids given a chance but defo not top of my list of priorities in terms of what is best going forward

I tend to agree, though if the club were to get that £10m difference, how many of us really think the summer war chest would go up by £10m?

  • matty53 says:

the points are probably moor important extra cash and send most people home happy for the summer and depending how we are doing the decide weather to give somebody a run out
most young players settle into a winning team rather than a struggling one

A bottom six, 15th position is embarrassing enough, Hugh. West Ham need to aim for a respectable mid-table position and if that means ignoring the young players in favour of Zabeleta, Cresswell, Ogbonna,, Noble, Lanzini, Arnautovic, etc to achieve this aim then so be it. There is a real possibility that we could finish lower in the table by playing youth…..and we’re depressed enough already!

Tonight is not the game to give youngsters Thier chance ,, although I sympathize with opinions . Tonight is a game where we need to give our absolute best and create a good feel factor for the future,,, not to mention the financial gain in League position . Man Utd are very beatable and we should go for it . Win or lose but with a good performance and commitment . Man Utd have a Cup game to consider and Thier Champions League place is secured , so I expect a softer Man Utd . For Mourinho to risk players at this stage with a Cup Final game looming would be rediculous .

    Hugh is right on this.
can’t quite believe people are saying a place or two is more important.
If Cullen,Browne or Holland come in for 45 mins minimum and show some worth, then that would solve a problem. Your looking at £10m easily you would save, trying to buy a Championship player who may step up would cost £15m,Maddison at Norwich is certainly going to command that kind of figure

If we do use young players tonight, then I think Marcus Browne should be included with the ones mentioned.

I would like to see Holland play, put the other two on the bench. Definitely not the game for a young centre back but who knows might be a nice surprise.

  • Hammer64 says:

Three good performances on the trot would be quite a new experience. That would be a good to end the season for me.

  • BrookingtoDevonshire says:

Not one youngster any where near getting a run out. Only one sub too. Pathetic Moyes, just go.
