David Moyes will not hear a single word against his captain Declan Rice who despite a really worrying season has been as committed as ever to the club.
It’s now pretty clear he will be leaving in the summer and for the first time the manager has dropped the subtlest of hints that may indeed be the case.
But for now he is a Hammer and will lead from the front for the rest of the campaign as he bids to drive the Irons up the table.
And talking to reporters Moyes made it clear he thinks the world of the academy product declaring: “What Dec has given back to West Ham, whether it is the club or the supporters, the team, and more importantly himself and his family, he has shown he is absolutely dead on, not missing a thing.
No questions can be asked about Declan Rice. He celebrates with the supporters, he talks to them, he is with them, in the dressing room he leads the team. If there is one thing you say about Declan Rice, whether he leaves or stays, he has been 100 per cent committed this year.”
Hats of to Dec, hammers legend. Wish him well and anyone who doesn’t is an idiot in my eyes. Shame we couldn’t have played to potential this year. If we’d done a Newcastle or even close, which should not have been beyond us given our squad, he may have stayed for another couple of years, especially with potential suitors like Liverpool and Chels underperforming, but we are where we are. We should at least stay up and I wish him all the best. He can win it all.
Send him out on loan, with an option to buy.
Once he realises how massive we are next season he’ll be begging to come back 😉
Joking aside, he has the world at his feet, none of us should feel aggrieved if Dec chooses to move on.
I just hope one day soon we can be a club the attracts players of Dec’s standard.
However, if he signs for Millwall forget the above, some things ain’t up for discussion.
