There has been a wave of negativity and false rumours surrounding West Ham over the last 48 hours, so I thought I’d try to bring some calm to the stormy waters.
Today’s news that Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen is back in training has given everyone at the club a huge boost, as well as an intriguing insight into the options soon to be available to manager Graham Potter.
With Crysencio Summerville expected to return to action against Aston Villa, Potter could soon have the tantalising prospect of a front three featuring Bowen, Summerville, and Mohammed Kudus for the Chelsea fixture.
The Brighton boss, known for his reputation for attacking football, must have struggled against his natural instincts when selecting the defensive lineup we saw against Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, injuries to key players left Potter little choice but to rely on a slow, defensive-minded team.
However, with creative talents like Carlos Soler and Lucas Paquetá loading the bullets, Potter can start building a side that reflects his attacking philosophy. Crucially, this lineup depends less on transfer activity, which is starting to look increasingly grim.
It’s been a tough old season at The London Stadium so far and the football under Lopetegui was almost soul destroying. Granted, Potters last outing resulted in no shots on target but that is understandable given the circumstances. Like most West Ham fans I’m desperate for something to actually enjoy and a bit of attacking football with some defensive competency would be most welcome.
Personally, I’m excited to see the type of team the new manager will field once he has more attacking players at his disposal. While we’re all delighted to see Bowen “back on the grass,” I doubt anyone is more thrilled than Potter himself
Now we are going to see what Potter can really do! Gonzo you need to stop peddling this sh!t. With those two players back Potter has no new players and still if anything inherits a worse team because the two mentioned need to get match fit and in Bowen case maybe three weeks away. Stop sticking up for the pile of crap that is our owners and board. They promise every year and the same old cheap panic buys swing in with the promise of top quality will turn around our season, when in reality, as in the last couple of windows have been bargain basement. Potter is no fool he was either offered money to strengthen or he wasn’t but having the same players does not make him a magician and you peddling sh!t is not helping the fan base. We have a new manager, now maybe it’s time for a new board……Sullivan out!!
No point in posting. Never put up…..OK no worries 👍…
Gonzo you talk about his (Potters) naturally attacking style. Is this actually the case as I thought this was the reason most fans of Brighton and Chelsea were not over keen.
What I saw against Villa for the first 50 minutes and the last 10 minutes was so encouraging, so if this is his style I would be very happy. But even taking into account the chaos of the season thus far and the fact we had a number of first team players out, the last two games attacking endeavour has been dire. I’m not wanting to knock the new guy as he needs a good 6 months to really see what we can do I just hope next season or sooner what we saw early on against villa is more the template than what we saw in the Palace game as it we will have gone full circle from Moyes
SULLIVAN OUT
Really even if they are back we still need a striker and box to box midfielder . Ridiculous to suggest we don’t need new players.
I know mate ….trying to appease with injury news…….still run like a sh#t show …I wouldn’t hold your breath on signings…you can see what’s coming. We tried
The board? you perhaps mean Sullivan did not like the agents involved in deals if they were not Salthouse, Silkman etc so tried to broker deals via the “back door” like with Duran and essentially sabotaged them. ?
👍👍👌
Ffs …really 2 players back who will need time and everything will be ok …with the stats from Saturday with not one single shot on goal I doubt cyro will make thst much differencebat villa ..NOTHING on signings then ???…not one shot on goal ..at home ..still can’t believe it …if you think potter can show us a completely different side with a couple injured players working there way back your in dream land mate ….taking focus of the mess We are making in the window again it is 👍
Just to give some balance to the non story from Sky and all the constant negativity. Our club have moved quickly to confirm that negotiations ended 2 weeks ago as his club refused to sell which C&H duly reported.
Up to today here are the number of incoming deals completed for each club:-
Zero – Arsenal, Brentford, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Man Utd. Newcastle, West Ham.
1 – Brighton, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Notts Forest, Wolves
2 – Aston Villa, Ipswich, Man City, Tottenham,
3 – Southampton
4 – Brentford
Out of all the deals completed this month only 15 have had transfer fees. the rest have been loans.
There are still 13 days left in the window so plenty of time for Graham to bring in players he needs. I can’t believe he would have accepted the job unless he had guarantees he would be backed with a good budget this window. He was also backed by the board who paid a reported £1.6 million to bring in the top data analyst from Chelsea who has worked successfully with Graham at 4 clubs. 2 of our Academy talents have also been given first team appearances which would never have happened before. I certainly agree the board completely screwed up the Duran transfer and the Palace performance was crap, but if the club and supporters give Graham time he will deliver.
Brentford have 2xteams . Wow 👌 👏
Thank you Essex for bringing some sanity to the Comments section, with actual facts and a balanced viewpoint. Sorely lacking these days…
We’re all so hungry for information these days, fuelled by 24-hour news cycles and instant access, that it’s always going to be difficult for C&H or anyone else to feed the demand. Everyone just needs to calm down. Getting aggy about it doesn’t do anyone any favours. People need time to work – give them time and relax.
Well said (written) Buddy!
People need to calm down.
