Nunez destiny looks set

Darwin Nunez appears likely to move to a Champions League club this summer, as reports swirl over his asking price.

The Athletic reports that the Benfica striker has hired super agent Jorge Mendes as his new representative, and he has promised the Portuguese club that he can convince a buying club to pay €80m for Nunez. That is £67.8m.

We know that boss David Moyes is a huge fan of Nunez, and a bid was made for the striker in the January transfer window.

However, the Irons manager wants to find value in the market and we have reported, as a result, that he is interested in signing Armando Broja from Chelsea.

Manchester United are reported to be eyeing Nunez, but there is also said to be interest from Champions League finalists Liverpool and Real Madrid, who will play each other on Saturday evening.

Nunez has been electric for Benfica and scored 34 goals in 41 games this season.

  1. How can Broja be value for money. he scored what 9 goals all season.
    Nunez is quality now .

    • We tried in January, he didn’t want to come as he wants a bigger club. Money, CL etc. He wont sign for us if we pay the required price. We’re on the right path, but cant expect us to compete against the top clubs in transfers…

  2. Boleyn irons it’s a cheap option and moyes couldn’t dream of paying that money his Scottish and dithers on most deals until they go somewhere else.

  3. Completely agree with lokfaen. We will always lose out to a club in Champions League even if we offered massive fees and wages.

  4. We didn’t have any hope of getting him or Diaz, it’s a nice idea but as soon as the big boys with CL pedigree get involved we’re out of the reckoning. This season’s exploits in Europe and a second decent placing in the league have helped our reputation. At the stage we’re at, we need to get a mix of youngsters with some measure of proven potential and experienced pro’s who know what winning feels like. Something link the Red Bull system with hundreds of scouts dotted around the 4 courners of the world and multiple feeder clubs doesn’t happen overnight.
