West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo has delivered an injury blow ahead of Thursday’s trip to Old Trafford.
The Hammers will now face Manchester United without winger Crysencio Summerville, following Nuno’s update to the media earlier today.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the manager said of Summerville:
“I don’t think he’ll make Thursday, unfortunately. There are still some issues. We are still assessing, but I think Thursday is probably going to be too soon.”
Key Attackers Missing for Crucial Clash
The news comes on top of Lucas Paquetá’s suspension following his red card against Liverpool, meaning West Ham will be without two of the first team’s most important attacking players.
Nuno will now likely turn to either Luis Guilherme or Kyle Walker-Peters to fill the wide role. Alternatively, he could switch to a back three and use Malick Diouf as a wing-back.
Either way, the Hammers head to Old Trafford with a weakened frontline — and another selection headache for the manager.
Magassa in alongside Potts, Fernandes in Paquetas role. KWP in at left back, Diouf left wing. Give George Earthy half an hour, if he can break through it would make a huge difference to us.
I would consider Walker-Peters at left back with Diouf directly replacing Summerville
His injury record wasn’t great at Leeds either. I don’t blame us for keeping the details close to our chest, but wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he will miss the next game, then the next, etc.
here we go again, last year, minor knock, will be out for 1 game,… 8 months later
