West Ham managerial candidate Nuno Espirito Santo has returned to Nottingham after holding two interviews to replace Graham Potter.

The former Nottingham Forest boss was in Essex last week for a meeting with Karren Brady, before attending a follow-up interview at David Sullivan’s mansion a week ago.

The Portuguese coach was also reported to have met with agent Jorge Mendes in London, and was later spotted by an eagle-eyed Hammers fan in Nottingham on Monday night. As expected, supporters asked about his future, but the 51-year-old gave nothing away Claret & Hugh was told last night.

Nuno remains the leading candidate to become West Ham’s next manager should Potter fail to get results against Everton and Arsenal in the coming fixtures.

With the club reluctant to pay compensation for Fulham manager Marco Silva, Nuno has emerged as the clear favourite after extensive dialogue with the Hammers hierarchy.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender šŸ˜¬āš’ļø Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

When I look at the current situation engulfing our great club. I am reminded of a piece of dialogue from the original Planet of The Apes movie. When Charlton Heston’s character Taylor, cries out in despair. This is a madhouse, madhouse!!

Gonzo , I would like your opinion on whether Silva or Nuno would be the best replacement for our team . Forget the costs your true opinion . I know Potter needs to go and actually want him gone ! .

  • Pete says:

We don’t want david moyes 4.0!!!!

  • FrankieMacsBack says:

Pictured at Nottingham Station? So what exactly does that prove?

    • Gonzo says:

Ohhh Frankie, that’s a tough one but since you ask.

It proves he uses public transport, has a rucksack, and is happy to stand in a queue.

Probably doesn’t prove the earth is flat or anything like that though.

    • Gonzo says:

Incidentally mate, you can’t be calling other posters morons so I deleted it.

Be a little more polite please. Cheers

Anything is better than the dirge we are currently being served. Maybe Nuno will be a decent short term fix until we get the manager we want? Who do we want? I think we could do with a proven Premiership manager, someone like Silva or Glasner. The latter had quite a public spat with his chairman last day of the transfer window, might be worth a cheeky offer. Who knows. All I do know is that Potter needs to pack his bags, and Nuno might be the best of a bad bunch……

  • DJ says:

Don’t want him! Low block, low possession dirge again… no thanks.
Lurching between completely different styles of manager is what got us in this mess in the first place. For once go for the best manager rather than the best unemployed manager.

  • BF Lenny D. says:

Wow! Potters interviewing his own successor at his mansion. Only at West ham!!!!

  • Daz says:

Bit harsh, interviewing him at Potter’s place! šŸ˜‰ I reckon the gaffer would have offered him tea and toast, and let him have his Netflix password.

  • Paul says:

Was Nuno at Graham Potters mansion?

    • Gonzo says:

No Paul, it was a typo from me. He was at Sullivans mansion. That will teach me to write something when I’m tired

      • Hammeroo says:

Gonzo, you and also Martin need to get more sleep, methinks. Yes, it’s a tough gig keeping up with all the drama that is West Ham but somebody has to do it! Thank you to both for your efforts. 🤣

        • Gonzo says:

Thanks Hammeroo mate, I always think it’s more soap opera than circus. Honestly, I look forward to the boring normality of matchdays a player ratings

Is Potter interviewing Nuno now, and since when did he get a mansion?!
No wonder we are struggling to replace him, the compensation will be more than the club is worth. šŸ˜„

  • Martin61 says:

Gonzo, you may wish to make a small change to the post…….I suspect Nuno didn’t have a meeting at Graham Potter’s mansion!

  • Martin says:

Er, i dont think he was having a follow up interview at Graham Potters mansion a week ago, that’d be a bit silly wouldnt it

  • Cardiff Irons says:

interview at Graham Potter’s mansion? You might want to correct that Gonzo. šŸ™‚

  • Taffyhammer says:

A bit insensitive with a second meeting at Potter’s mansion.

  • ForReal says:

Graham Potter’s interviewing him at his mansion? Crikey, that’s really taking the biscuit.

Our board must be lower than low forcing Potter to interview his successor.

    ā€œWorld-classā€ behaviour, that is.
