As far as West Ham transfer rumours go, linking Nuno Espirito Santo with some of his former players is something of a tap-in.
First came reports that the new Hammers manager was interested in a move for his former Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood. This was shortly followed by speculation that a January switch to the London Stadium could also be on the cards for midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré.
The most recent link involves Nuno’s former Wolves favourite, the musclebound speedster Adama Traore. The barrel-chested winger was reportedly part of the reason Espirito Santo had a falling-out with Forest’s director of football, Edu, who did not wish to sign him from Fulham.
So when Nuno rocked up at the London Stadium, rumours of a Traore move to West Ham were an easy match to make.
Traore Link Quickly Shot Down
However, when Claret & Hugh asked our top transfer ITK if there was any chance of the Hammers making a bid for Traore in January, we were told: “It ain’t happening.”
As C&H reported yesterday, West Ham are looking for a fast forward who can play across the frontline — and Traore clearly isn’t that player.
“He’s primarily a right winger and Bowen plays there. Sure, West Ham need pace, but striker, midfield and defence are more of a priority,” our source explained.
We were also told that while the Hammers boss might have wanted Traore at Forest, he will not be pushing West Ham to sign the winger.
