New West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to take training today ahead of Monday’s Premier League game against Everton.

Sacked boss Graham Potter had been tipped to lead the team out against the Toffees, and possibly even Arsenal, while the board finalised his replacement.

However, a hurry-up over the last 24 hours saw Espirito Santo appointed despite travelling back to Nottingham on Thursday night.

What is clear is that the former Nottingham Forest boss does not view the Everton and Arsenal fixtures as unwinnable. Instead, the Portuguese coach has decided to jump straight in and maximise his time with his new players.

It is believed that today’s training session – originally scheduled for 10:30am – was pushed back to allow Nuno to take charge. Earlier the club confirmed confirmed Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin had all departed with Potter. Therefore, it’s safe to assume Espirito Santo will have arrived in East London with at least some of his backroom team to take training.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Please please please sort it Nuno
We are all a bag of nerves at West Ham after how we have suffered after winning the cup
I feel he is our last hope but do think results will improve.

  • John Lattimore says:

Contributors to this site are very fickle. I wonder how long it will be before we see the first moans about Nuno’s counter-attacking style of play?

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Let’s hope we see a positive reaction from the players and the best team gets picked, Everton like any Moyes team will be committed but beatable. Would like to see Magassa or Potts starting and more organised from set plays, now that big Ange is at Forest looks like another team in the relegation mix.

So potter is gone and that needed to happen he just not a good fit at West Ham he may have stood a chance of being successful had he been backed in the transfer market now Nuno is in the hot seat and he is about to find out that Sullivan never keeps any promise so i don’t think he will get past the first 6months and then it will be another lamb to the slaughter while Sullivan and Brady are running our great club it is near on impossible for any manager to be successful they need to get out then hopefully someone can buy the can’t put things right starting with building a proper football stadium ambition and a will to win until then we will remain the club that ends managers job by making doing his or hers job impossible to do for now if you take on managing West Ham Utd it is the kiss of death to their reputation

  • pat says:

Fresh impetus and ideas were so badly needed and a lift for the players as it was clear they just had no real fight in them as they new Potters days were numbered

  • Ant says:

No-one should be treated the way Potter was with his sacking. The way this club is run is abhorrent, you just don’t string someone along and then put their replacement in to train the team while announcing their sacking!
Sullivan and Brady are showing more than ever how incompetent they are and with Nuno, I would be surprised if things get much better.
How do the academy players feel now after the aim was to build a younger squad, will they get their chance under Nuno?
What happens in January? If Nuno struggles to get results will he be backed with funds?
If he is successful, will it be seen as Sullivan pulling a master stroke?
All in all, this is a reflective tactic from the real problem. Potters results were poor, that is no doubt, but Potter was about growing a future team, is Nuno’s remit the same?

We just don’t know and however this plays out, let’s not forget that our board are still the same. Nothing has changed!

  • Timbo says:

The timings of the sacking and appointment are lacking class as per usual but this is an enormous relief to most. Known as a defensive coach and guess what, this is what we need (again). Hope springs eternal and all that.

  • Paul Lock says:

About time took Sullivan long enough time will tell if it’s the right choice one things for sure jwp gotta go amongst others

  • Hammeroo says:

Thank god we don’t have to put up with David Sullivan calling the shots from the dugout up at Everton on Monday evening!

  • Loxthehammer says:

Apparently, the Academy coaches are helping him with the training session, which can only be good news for the youngsters!

  • Mick bering says:

Right decision from the board Lots of wrongs but credit for this one

  • Darkhorse says:

Fantastic news. Come on you irons
