Obiang thunderbolt gives Irons a point

|

Spurs 1 Irons 1

obiang1West Ham produced the most resilient of performances to grab a magnificent point at Wembley.

On a night when manager David Moyes picked a team with an obvious eye on the run of games after Sunday’s FA Cup tie, we showed ourselves as a team that, at our best is seriously hard to beat.

Not surprisingly Spurs dominated possession but Pedro Obiang produced a thunderous drive from distance in the 70th minute to give us a shock lead.

It was our first and only shot on target – an amazing effort but sadly was equalled when Spurs levelled.

Son Heung-min produce one of similar quality with six minutes left and we were left to settle for a point.

This was a top defensive performance although Spurs were never at their best we defended superbly with Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna outstanding.

With Marko Arnautovic suffering a hamstring problem and Andy Carroll left on the bench Javier Hernandez led the attack – a thankless task on a night when he really needed someone to work off.

But for all that the Irons restricted the hosts to a couple of first half chances and and had them on the run at the end  we had taken four points from six in a couple of days and tonight sit in 15th place on 22 points with  Palace and Newcastle.

Moyes got Tactics right & having Arnie out hurt needed him up front or even Antonio. But great game for Rice MOTM Adrian some great save w deflection.

And Obiang what a shot even saw a Sluds fan say his was better then Sons.
He took it with his right foot w a defender right on & read the shot was 81mph & curled perfectly into the left top corner & he is left footed.
Obiang can shoot & seen him make good strikes this season one goal w deflection & the one from half way that hit woodwork. But he doesn’t shoot a lot had 1 PL goal last season & was good shot.
Think he needs to start taking more chances bc the he is good w both feet.

That was one of best goals ever seen at Wembley.

And he had a great cross as well too right on Cheik’s head o covered well for Zaba but Cheik just wasn’t even laying ATTN was right on his head he should of buried it.
But glad to be in 15th & above Bournemouth.

Just hope Lewin gets our boys fit to many injuries not any better then last season. And come Huddersfield be nice to have Arnie back Ox. Are bench was Ayew Hart & U23s.

Yes we are hard to beat. Until we try to attack sides. Then we get torn apart. If the owners are now rubbing their hands together & saying no need to spend they are making a big mistake – AGAIN….

What a strike from Obiang reminded me of the one Johnny Metgod scored against us however many years ago, I was right behind the goal and it just seemed to keep accelerating, in fairness Son’s wasn’t too bad either.
