The Irons have re-entered the fray for Red Bull Salzburg defender Oumar Solet, according to Salzburger Nachrichten.

Cryptically, within the last hour ExWHUEmployee has retweeted the rumour in which it suggests West Ham have made an official approach for the player.

The 24-year-old Frenchman reportedly feels a sense of discontentment at Salzburg and seeks a new challenge.

The Austrian club anticipates a major defensive overhaul this summer, with several key defenders seeking exits and Solet’s departure appears imminent.

Roma, Wolfsburg, and West Ham have already made contact with Solet regarding a transfer.

Unsurprisingly , his €10 million valuation is considered somewhat high by some clubs.

Despite recent acquisitions like Max Kilman, West Ham finds themself still interested in Solet. He does tick a lot of boxes, however.

But the big question is whether they do want to pursue him, bearing in mind they’ve just spent big on Max Kilman and also have Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd as options in central defence too.

If there is going to be any mileage in this, as already stated West Ham will need to sell one or two of the above defenders to create space for Solet’s arrival.

You would think he’s a Zouma replacement and backup to Mav. And there’s your four CB’s.

I still believed Arguad is a very good difender, although i do not lije to conderm Moyes nut the reality is some players suffer from Moyes formation and I Arguad is one of them, let us just hope he stays , and see what he can do

There’s definitely a very good defender in Aguerd we all saw it at the world cup and in his early performances for us. Just hope Loppy can get a time out of him

Aguerd according to other sites is staying at the club. It does drive me nuts with all these players we supposedly are in for. Some of these so-called insiders who have inside information would not have access to any transfer interest the club have. The only time news gets released is when agreements between all parties never before

  • Dave says:

He’s right footed so would NOT be an “Aguerd replacement”?(that was Kilman incase you weren’t paying attention).

    Was there a typo somewhere?

“,,,bearing in mind they’ve just spent big on Max Kilman,,,”

Either he’s the Marco Boogers of defenders or there’s a mistake there because £8-8.5m is hardly a huge fee. And the “bearing in mind” indicates they might be apprehensive about spending big again so none of that makes sense…

I’ll put it out there Tim’s out in Brazil holding Paqueta’s hand, while he should be getting players in the door, if Paqueta is that worried, then the club should be concerned, and if found guilty sue the arse out of him! So sick of bidding next week, concrete interest in, looking at, expecting to intensify talks next week, next week never comes!
