West Ham finally officially confirmed that Sofiane Feghouli has joined Galatasaray on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee believed to be £4m.
The Algeria winger moves to the Turkish Super Lig club after a single season in Claret and Blue, having joined the Hammers from Spanish side Valencia in summer 2016. Feghouli totalled 27 appearances and four goals for West Ham, including one against Slovenian UEFA Europa League opponents NK Domzale in the first-ever fixture at London Stadium in July last year.
He added further strikes in Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion in Stratford before netting at Burnley in what turned out to be his final appearance for the Club in May.
West Ham thanked Sofiane for his efforts and wished him well in his future career on WHUFC
Feghouli was presented to the Galatasaray crowd before their match last night where he told supporters.
“Obviously I was expecting to sign Galatasaray for a long time, but conditions can sometimes be like that. I am very happy to join Galatasaray, which I am such a big supporter. Today I came to Turk Telekom Stadium for the first time; a very beautiful spectacular stadium. I want to meet my teammates and start the training to come out and play at this stadium.”
“I came here to be a champion; I want champions league. I have to work well. I signed a 5-year contract with Galatasaray which is a long contract. I hope everything will be as I want.”

Amazing how so called poor Players ( or those that were good players ) improve dramatically when they leave West Ham . Zaza has gone on to be a different player at Valencia , Feghouli will definitely improve at Galatasaray and Snodgrass suddenly became useless when he joined Us . The question surely is ” what’s wrong with our coaching ” and set up . Will Hernandez suddenly become awful ? , hope not .
It does appear that way but as West Ham fans, we are uniquely unqualified to be objective. It certainly does happen to other clubs. Look at Fernando Torez. He had magic in his boots when he played for Liverpool, went to Chelski and couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo. I think it’s maybe just our perspective, perhaps?
Yeh ok , IronMan but , we have a lot of examples . Too many . There was no real reason to sell Valencia & Fletcher either . They were both up and coming . It seems to me a bit like the players are being blamed for poor coaching . Maybe I’m wrong , time will tell . If Hernandez & Anautovich suddenly become mediocre then we definitely have a deep rooted problem .
Seems like a poorly thought out ploy to sell players so as to afford supposedly better ones who after Sunday’s performance are no better or indeed , worse .
Four at the back and a weak midfield is a Masterplan ??. Hopefully it was just to cover the injuries . If not then what . Bilic needs to wake up .
Absolutely no danger of breaking the fair play rules .
