Ogbonna tells us what’s required from here!

|

Sadly. we are still receiving messages ion the self evident from players on the official site where today Angelo Ogbonna is telling us that it really is time for the players to concentrate 100 per cent on their jobs.

Well excuse me but I thought that was the case on every match day or indeed in any walk of life – that it is being stated only suggests we have a problem among some of those with a bit too much on their minds apart from winning football games.

Honestly, these things really shouldn’t be said!

Hopefully, after two quite horrible results, a quiet window which demonstrated that the manager is keeping faith with his squad the players will get the message.

We are trusting them to sort things out although I still maintain there really is no need for such things to be spoken publicly – it just causes doubt in the minds of the fans that everyone is being as professional as he should be.

Speaking ahead of the Liverpool game Ogbonna said: ““I think we have to do things step by step and we are now totally focused on this Premier League game with Liverpool

In this moment of the season, we have to concentrate 100 per cent on our jobs, as it is a really, really important game.

“We still want to achieve things this season in the Premier League so, if we want to do them, we need to do better, starting against Liverpool on Monday.”

Declan Rice will have a key role to play and Oggy is delighted with the player’s development saying: “Everybody knows that Dec has a lot of quality for his age and that he’s a good player and he’s a good lad.

When I see young players train hard and not complain because they want to reach the top level, it’s very, very good.

“The position Dec plays is very important for the defence, it makes your job easier. He has to read the game totally and keep the ball and try to give the defence an opportunity to play from the back.

“He is doing well.”

Bright as a button isn’t he ! I believe the way to show your 100% is on the pitch & I expect to see a big improvement . Even if we finish 7th still possible with a good run we will attract better players. Play for each other and stick together and go out there and win games. COYI

Why can’t they just pipe down it’s annoying especially coming from a bloke who clearly didn’t give a shi!! Like a lot of them the other night……action s speak louder than words…

‘a quiet window which demonstrated that the manager is keeping faith with his squad‘
Or, a case of the club being skint (as reported on here several times previously)?

    • I assume the same could be levelled at all the others then – pointless observation. Leads nowhere

        Why pointless?
If the clubs skint, I would suggest THAT is the reason we’ve not been active in the transfer window, as opposed to the gaffer being happy with what he has at his disposal.

        • It’s you are saying the club is skint and it is where does your argument lead. Nowhere. Fact is he has 31 points and if you read the site Lanzini coming back, Nasri available next weekend, Arnautovic okish Monday deffo Saturday so why do we wanna go buying bang average Jan signings exactly? Everybody except the top 6 is struggling. Did u see what was wanted for the poor Batshuayi. 12 matches would have cost £6 million. That’s the way to make a club skint and given the total spend this season was about half of last year clubs are becoming more sensible.

While I agree with your statement that trotting out excuses is no use Hugh, I would not blame Ogbonna or any of the players – I think that the WHU website decides that they have to get a statement from the players – and in this case Ogbonna was brave enough to put himself forward. I think that I have said on here before that with Cresswell outside him he performs much better.
This is really now the acid test for Pelle – can he put out a team to at least draw with Liverpool and then hopefully beat Palace? I think that one defeat would be disappointing but two would be really damaging and could see us slide back into the relegation fight
