Oggy update

Angelo Ogbonna has been sorely missed at the heart of West Ham’s defence since injury.

Our latest report on the 33 year old is that his recuperation is going well but there is no chance – unlike Kurt Zouma did – of him making a rapid return to the side.

The 33 year old Oggy suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in West Ham’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool prior to the international break which has ruled him out until next season.

However, it’s good to be able to report that his rehab is going well according to club sources.

One told us:  “He’s on course for a full recovery although there’s little chance of a return before the next campaign when he will be offered a new contract as promised.”

A Hammers insider had told CandH previously that the player would be rewarded with a new deal which we now understand is likely to be for a year with a 12 month option.
