West Ham’s U23s beat Ipswich Town 2-1 in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Summer signing Armstrong Oko-flex enjoyed an excellent display against the senior outfit and scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute of the game.
James Norwood had opened the scoring after just two minutes but the young Irons fought back.
Keenan Appiah-Forson scored after 12 minutes to level proceedings and it was down to Okoflex to win the game late on, after Jamal Baptiste was fouled in the penalty area.
The former Celtic man has been in electric form for the U23s thus far this season and seems to be on the cusp of a call-up to the first-team, especially with Mikey Antonio the only senior striker in the side.
Indeed, he scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 thumping of Arsenal and has played primarily as a left winger throughout the campaign.
The Hammers will also play Gillingham and Colchester United in the group stages of the Papa John’s Trophy.
