Olympiacos 2 West Ham1: Player ratings

Areola:6 Called into action in the 8th min and comfortably saved a shot. Should have done better for the opener.

Kehrer:5 Looked comfortable against speedster Daniel Podence when 1 on 1 but struggled positionally.

Mavropanos:5 Part of the collective who were responsible for going behind. Got better in the second half.

Ogbonna:5 Complete miss-kick saw the captain score and own-goal from a botched clearance.

Emerson:6 We’ll miss him against Everton. Always an outlet for the counter.

Soucek:3 Poor passing but defended crosses well. Stood still for the first goal and didn’t close the space down. Awful pass almost gifted the home team their 3rd.

Ward Prowse:5 Too lethargic for the Olympiacos opener. Corners and freekicks were not at his usual standard.

Fornals:3 Performed like a player who lacks match sharpness. Tried his heart out as always but lacked any impact.

Kudus:6 Good energy but switched off occasionally. Shot over the bar from a corner. Impressed with his strength.

Olympiacos 2 West Ham 1:Kudus was one of the few players to emerge with any credit.

Benrahma:4 Frustrating and wasteful at the start of the game. Nothing he tried worked.

Ings:4Looked fed-up from as early as the 20th min and I can’t blame him. Two half chances in the box.

Paqueta:5 On for Fornals in the 57th min. Gave the ball away as much as he passed to a team-mate. Despite playing awfully he scored a vicious half-volley to make the game 2-1.

Bowen:5 Swapped for Benrahma.

Antonio:3 Part of a triple substitution for Ings but no improvement. Looked equally fed-up and decided to take the law into his own hands and got himself carded.

Cornet:2 72nd min sub for Kudus. He’s fast and didn’t get caught offside.

Alvarez:5 Replaced James Ward Prowse. Some good moments but also turned inside out.
