Olympic Stadium: Fill the gap with ‘Lazy boy’ chairs

Image for Olympic Stadium: Fill the gap with ‘Lazy boy’ chairs

lazy1One enterprising West Ham fan has come up with a great solution to fill the gap between the lower and upper seats in the West Stand of the Olympic Stadium. His simple solution is to use double spaced ‘lazy boy’ style seats which allows for the shallower rake between lower and upper tier without affecting sight lines which would also be a revenue earner for West Ham.

West Ham released an image last month showing claret and blue sails covering gaps between upper and lower seats in the West, South and North stands but not all West Ham fans believe this is the best use of the space.

Another idea is to use the gaps between the south and north upper and lower seating as hot tub areas for fans to watch the game from like Swiss Super League  team Grasshoppers already do pictured below.

Watching a West Ham from a hot tub could be one solution!

In all seriousness – and assuming accessibility – the filled gaps could make ideal platforms for wheelchair-bound fans.

The shallow rake would be be less of an issue, and no installed seats required – much easier for installing and dismantling!

Could just imagine Boxing Day in my Budgie Smugglers watching the Spuds getting a beating, with a cold beer in hand,

This idea doesn’t quite work in the middle of a UK winter..:

I’ve heard worse ideas – if people were prepared to pay a premium for such a seat, and a way could be found to ensure that they don’t interfere with the rapid conversion of the stadium as required between football and something else, why not?
