West Ham’s Premier League game at Newcastle United will be played on Good Friday, 10th April, with an 8pm kick-off the club have finally confirmed.
The Hammers’ trip to St James’ Park will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports.
West Ham away supporters travelling to Newcastle were left in the lurch last Friday after confusion after the Hammers game was picked by Sky.
Sky Sports initially announced the Newcastle v West Ham game had moved to Friday night at 8 pm before quickly deleting after it became clear there was no agreement from the Premier League. The problem is claimed to have related to Newcastle Police who were yet to sign off on the re-scheduled Premier League match being held on a Bank holiday.
Newcastle later released a social media announcement saying “Newcastle’s home fixture against West Ham United has been selected for live broadcast on Sky Sports. As a result, the fixture will be played over the weekend of 10th-13th April. The final date will be confirmed following further consultation with the authorities.”
Match going fans could be forgiven for thinking they are second class citizens when it comes to broadcasting Premier League games.
I honestly think they should have a restriction in place as to how far us poor fans have to travel for Monday, Friday and pre arranged midweek games. I understand that TV money rules; but could they not just put a 100 mile rule in place for ALL teams???
