Another week, another story of a West Ham International footballer and interest from ‘Saudi Arabia’ league teams. As reported by Spanish site fichajes.net, the big-money claim appears today Friday and is the latest in a series of rumoured ‘impending bids’ that we as Hammers fans are just going to have to get used to in the coming months.
Entitled ‘The big offer from Saudi Arabia to sign Kudus’, the report details:“Mohammed Kudus, the current star of West Ham, is at the center of media attention due to a possible and striking transfer to Saudi Arabia. The Ghanaian, at 24 years old, has shown exceptional level in the Premier League, sparking the interest of a Saudi club that would be willing to pay 100 million euros to secure his services.
Signed in 2023 for just over 40 million, Kudus could become one of the most lucrative deals in the history of the English club.”
And continues, without actually identifying a club who have put their money where their mouth is yet:
“The Saudi market, in full expansion and aiming to attract internationally renowned figures, has set its sights on Kudus.
The 100 million euros investment being considered as an offer could be a significant incentive for both the player and West Ham. Selling Kudus would mean a substantial profit for the English club compared to the initial investment, while for the player, it could be the opportunity to become one of the most prominent faces in the Saudi league.”
Whilst we recoil initially at such reports and hope our club will slap a ‘not for sale at any price’ reply, the release clause next summer at £85 million is well known.
I’m going to put it out there: Would it be such a bad deal to sell Kudus in January?
If someone comes up with the mythical £85 million, that would provide West Ham with an enormous budget to bring in a £50 million-level ‘play maker’ to replace ‘out of form’ or ‘banned’ Paquetá (depending on which way his hearings go…) – and a fast fit young £30 million-plus striker.
You tell me which would represent the better option for West Ham. I can’t make my mind up but I’m not as ‘against’ the idea as maybe this time last year.

Only sell him if he wants to go we can’t stop the 85 million release clause being met , so if he says he wants out and they offer us the money the only plus is release clause have to be paid in full upfront

Unfortunately Kudus plays for Kudus, he is not a team player.
Yes, he has brilliant ball skills, but nearly always now takes it too far and tries to shoot through a pack of defenders, instead of on occasion looking to play others in.
I would not be overly concerned if he went, particularly if the profit could be ploughed into a decent strike force and probably a Paqueta replacement.
Both players are really skillful, but West Ham are not benefiting from that so I would rather see more contributory players out there
Well, whilst I want him to stay at West Ham, Kudus is never going to stay with us for very long – especially if the current shambles continues. He wants success & to win trophies & better money (same as all of us). In reality, it might be better to take a handsome profit & actually invest it in some players who are capable performers in the Premier League (not including him in that).
Talk it up a bit and take it. While Kudus has exceptional dribbling skills teams double and treble up on him now and his reaction to that is head down and keep going so this season he goes nowhere. He has shown no sign of drawing his markers in then passing is all it needs to counter it. Getting frustrated and chinning opponents makes matters worse as then he doesn’t play at all. As you point out a couple of decent players are more useful than that.
Unfortunately Paqueta is looking worthless as a transfer and a player . Kudus will not be sold this winter unless an offer north of 150 million comes in .
The Spanish source of this Saudi/Kudus story is about as reliable as our Manager picking the right team.
I’d rather get a new Manager that can pick the players we have before JLo lowers their value to the same level of their confidence.
This brings to mind the story that Arsenal wanted to buy Mo Diame from us to which BFS quipped “well Mo needs to start playing better then” – so in the same way “well Mo better make sure he doesn’t get sent off again”

Both players are passengers at the moment for various reasons..This is making the team unstable because of their reputations.
When and if they are both available to play they should get their heads out of the clouds and work for the collective good of the team.
However personally i dont see that happening..My gut feeling is Kudus will be sold and Paqueta will get banned for a long period and eventually will be sold as well….Long term its probably for the best..In the short term it will hurt unless we get a manager in who can pull every one together…Once they have both gone.
