West Ham remain in the hunt for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson despite reports to the contrary.

Claret & Hugh have spoken to a West Ham source who was unwilling to confirm the identity of any transfer targets but did admit that some business could happen in January.

More specifically, the Hammers are actively looking at striker options in the event of ‘one or more’ forwards leaving in January.

Our top source at the London Stadium has rubbished reports that Michail Antonio will leave the club in the next window. However, the same source has not ruled out the homesick Niclas Füllkrug departing next month, even though he is close to returning from injury.

The real twist in the equation is Danny Ings, who could also be set to leave. We have been informed that there is genuine interest in the former Liverpool and Southampton striker, who turned down a move to a South Coast club in July.

However, it has become clear to Ings that there is no set of circumstances where he will regularly start under Julen Lopetegui, despite some promising performances off the bench.

Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler said this week that Ferguson is not available and is part of the Seagulls’ plans. But Ferguson doesn’t seem to view it the same way, with only one start this season, and is reportedly agitating for a loan move away.

It is also worth noting that Hürzeler has no say on transfers at the South Coast club, who actively look to loan out players who do not feature in the first team.

How can Fullkrug be homesick. He’s spent more time in Germany since he signed than he has in England.

We’re short on forwards, so why let Ings go? And surely the time has come to order the Manger/Coach that the youth squad has to be introduced more often. Perhaps the answer is one of them.

Is Ferguson another Kalvin Phillips though. Appear to be question marks over his attitude….last thing we need.
Also how does Ings leaving work out finance-wise? Unless a huge golden handshake or subsidy of his wages is employed, he doesn’t appear to be in any mood to shift. Why would he?
