It appears that West Ham are not the only club to issue a ‘one more game’ ultimatum, as Gary O’Neil now seems to face precisely that.

The heat is on Wolves boss O’Neil following a crushing 2-1 defeat at The London Stadium. However, the under-fire manager remains adamant he can steer the club to safety.

It now seems O’Neil is being given one last chance, just as Lopetegui was before their ‘El Sackico’ encounter on Monday.

Monday’s defeat at in East London marked Wolves’ third consecutive loss, leaving them second-bottom of the Premier League and four points adrift of safety. Whilst it was a massive relief for J-Lo and his happy Hammers the Wanderers gaffer had much to complain about.

With both O’Neil and Lopetegui under scrutiny ahead of the clash, Irons gaffer has bought himself some breathing room, while O’Neil’s position looks increasingly precarious. Quite frankly, I’m surprised he survived the encounter at The London Stadium, but it seems ‘nine lives’ O’Neil will get one final game against Ipswich Town.

The Wolves manager was fuming about the number of decisions that went against his side and if I’m honest, I did agree with him on the clumsy challenge from Mavropanos.

“I’m not concerned,” O’Neil said when questioned about his future. “I’m proud of the group and what they’ve given me. All I can ask is their best effort.”

The embattled boss insists the squad is still behind him as they face a daunting survival fight.

“We won’t give up,” O’Neil vowed. “We’ll keep pushing.”

As much as I hate saying this IF it means Lopetegui WILL be fired Then just this once I would not mind losing to any team If it means the board making their minds up sooner rather than later
As long as it’s not Potter He has been out of the game to long to put this total abortion right

No offence Gonzo, but I feel I should point out that the defeat of Wolves was by no means crushing! It would have been wonderful if it had been.

I feel for Gary O’Neill as he has not had a lot to work with – certainly not any where near the resources J-Lo has!

As G Force says, what’s all this one game rubbish ? You’re either a competent manager who can do a job, or you’re not.
Lopsy falls into the second bracket, and should have been dismissed last International Break.

  • G Force says:

These “One Game ” warnings are stupid and unreliable .Only the clubs know what their intentions may or may not be ,, and if they do know they certainly are not going to inform the media or us in advance .

    Todays odds…

    O’Neil – 2/7
    Lopetegui – 9/2
    Postecoglou – 13/2
    Martin – 8/1
    Howe – 20/1
    Dyche – 40/1
    McKenna – 40/1
    50/1 bar

I don’t realistically see us taking much from Bournemouth or Brighton.

Is this for the next Manager to be sacked? Knowing our history with Sullivan – his kicking the can and avoidance mentality. Those odds are way too high. We are not getting rid of El Lopo anytime soon. Sully doesn’t like having to dosh out the compo. It sticks in his crawl lobbing out for managers. He would rather wait until the end of the season.

Shame we can’t swap managers with Wolves.

Dies Thilo Kehrers loan deal to Monaco include an option to buy? He’s been great for Monaco apparently where they’ve had one of the best defensive records in the league .
