Opposition give a taste of what’s to come

While the feeding frenzy on Zouma’s cat abuse incident has largely died down in the media, for now, the opposition showed they have far longer memories.

Newcastle away fans bought a large number of orange blow up cats which they flew around Sir Trevor Brooking lower stand with stewards confiscating them when they fell on the Claret carpet surrounding the pitch.

They booed Zouma every time he touched the ball and sang songs about him, bizarrely this seemed to not affect Zouma and he was one of the better players at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, not that there was a lot of competition to be fair.

According to one unsubstantiated online report, the mocking wasn’t just restricted to away supporters with claims that Newcastle striker Chris Wood was making a ‘Meow’ noise during the game directed at the former Chelsea defender.

It is alleged that Craig Dawson made a complaint to the referee against this sledging tactic.

  1. Kicking a cat or murdering and chopping up a journalist. What a strange moral highground these geordies take.
