Out in cold Iron deserves better

By Hughie Southon

He hasn’t been told yet but probably knows exactly where he stands at West Ham United.

With Paqueta, Ward-Prowse, Soucek, Benrahma  and Fornals battling for midfield places this really does look the time when Conor Coventry will wave goodbye to his beloved Hammers.

I find it a great shame that I was told by a key contact inside the club that the young man clearly was going to get zero chances to make his way into the first team.

After a 13 year career at youth and senior West Ham level he has made just one first team appearance to not be told where he stands at this stage of proceeding is tough.

He must feel as though he has been sent to Coventry.

Nobody would expect him to break into the team at this stage but one might have hoped the lad would have been told that he could start taking care of his future
