West Ham United could see a player from the David Moyes era head for the exit door this summer. Left-back Emerson Palmieri is reportedly “ready to leave” the club, according to Italian outlet Leggo.

With Julen Lopetegui replacing Moyes at the helm, West Ham are expected to undergo a tactical shift. Lopetegui’s possession-based style might require different personnel, and Emerson’s desire to leave could be a sign of things to come.

Despite signing a permanent deal worth £15 million in 2022 and having a contract until 2026, Emerson seems eager for a move away.

The 29-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from his former club, Roma. They view him as a potential replacement for Leonardo Spinazzola. Emerson might be open to a return to familiar surroundings, having played 47 games for Roma before joining Chelsea in 2018.

The Hammers’ position on Emerson’s potential departure remains unclear. If Lopetegui sees him as a key player in his plans, Emerson might be convinced to stay.

However, if he’s set on leaving, West Ham would ideally recoup a significant portion of the £15 million they invested in him. Selling Emerson could also free up funds for potential new signings, especially considering Financial Fair Play regulations.

Sick to death of reading every five minutes West Ham are going to sign another player but as usual it doesn’t happen thought Steiden was the king of transfers.

Not had a count up yet, but just into the 2nd week of June and already been linked to at least 50 players. No signings, but apparently wanted to do some early business?

Would rather see the donkey Zoom(a) go out the door.

He needs to stay, he was effective and positive in spite of Moyes park the bus from the car park to the attacking 6 yard line.

I hope he stays, coach needs to improve his defensive qualities, but surely we would make a profit on him if he were to leave, sad though it is.

Only few weeks ago there were stories here that Emerson was going to be a key part in J-Lo’s new possession based football. As seems to be regularly occurring on this site now, it seems to be another U turn in reporting.

Wouldn’t call him great ? Alright going forward , rubbish defensively .

Lazy stereotype. Made more tackles than any of our other players last year.

Don’t want Emerson to leave he has been a great player for us

Agree. Think he is very good and I would be very surprised if he couldn’t fit into any new system.
