Overjoyed Haller living the dream

Seb Haller started paying chunks off his £45 million record signing fee with a couple of goals at Watford and unsurprisingly was in celebration mode afterwards..

The second goal was a stroke of genius -an overhead kick which left the Watford defence and keeper Ben Foster helpless such was its accuracy and audacity.

He had almost succeeded with a similar effort in the first half but the Hornets keeper  somehow came to Watford’s rescue with an equally superb save from a scorpion shot right out of the top drawer.

However, for most of the match the Frenchman was a total nightmare for the Hornets defence whenever he was on the ball, showing amazing hold up play, touch and lay off abilities which at times left them chasing shadows.

Truth is Haller looks to be everything you want in a striker and looks set to make a major input to the Hammers season.

And afterwards talking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/august/24-august/haller-its-dream-score-these-crucial-goals he said: “It was a dream!. Of course, I would like to play better and score more goals. But that’s football sometimes; you sometimes don’t play that good, but you score goals.

“It’s nice to help the team to win this game. It’s important to start with wins. That was the target today and it was time to win a game.

We didn’t want to go any longer without a win. Now it’s done and we can be happy with the result, the work from the boys, and now we can enjoy it!”

He added: “It was a difficult game. Watford are a good team offensively, so we had problems from the first minute when they attack.

“We tried to wait a bit, be patient, and wait for a good moment to go forward in the contest. That’s what we’ve done. It was really tough for both teams and it could have gone either way. We stayed strong and it’s a really nice three points.”

  1. From what I’ve seen before, Haller is not one to follow the media agenda; these words shows a very intelligent football head. My stream lagged so didnt see the 3rd, but his run in for the 2nd, and Andersons composed assist, looks fruitful! Not to happen about the defending, we definitly need more balance and like Hugh stated it lookes better with Noble
