Owners were offered life president roles

Nasib Piriyev who failed in his attempt to buy West Ham United  has given an interview in the Athletic’s football podcast claiming he offered David Sullivan and David Gold to stay at the club forever in life president roles.

Nasib continues to claim he has email evidence of his initial approach and a price quoted to him and says a second bid was rejected on price even though privately the club insists no second approach was ever received. He says the two parties reached a stalemate but the door remains open if West Ham owners change their mind.

“I think in business there are some situations where there is a stalemate because of the timing of the event,” Nasib Piriyev told The Athletic’s Football Podcast.

“When we (first) approached them the club wasn’t doing well. The pricing which they offered to us – which all can be evidenced, it’s all in emails etc, all formal – that pricing worked for us, we looked at it, we agreed and we decided to go forward…

“There was quite a rude reaction (from Sullivan when details of the bid were leaked in the press) and so our partner Phil Beard thought it was the right thing to answer publicly…

“Then we did the second bid because the first was rejected based on price. So we have looked at a way to make the bid more creative – creative in that we would suggest that the current owners would stay for some period and they would enjoy this current wave of good form and then pass on to the new club custodians…

“This thing obviously will not be too popular with the current supporters I must say Sullivan and Gold staying on as life presidents of West Ham.

“But if that’s the way that they would want to do it we are open to that, as long as we take control of the club, that would be the main condition.”

When asked about proof of funds and access to the cash in order to complete a takeover, Piriyev said ‘it can be clearly evidenced’.

“Hope springs eternal, we will always be there,” Piriyev said

“I love the club, I supported since I was a little child, we do want to do this project. Our offer is on the table, we will not increase the price again, it’s already inflated by far and we are sure nobody will be able to meet this price expectation.

“We want to buy the club and inject money into the club – £150m of new money.”

Claret and Hugh say:

More empty words from the man who led the phantom West Ham takeover, we would wager this is the last we will hear from him and his group as they disappear into obscurity. If he had the evidence he claims why wouldn’t he publish it and prove it? After all, he seems to have used the media for most other of his activities in his attempt ng to buy the club. It is difficult to take them at their word when they played the whole affair out in media without backing any of it up. They do seem to enjoy the limelight though and were they ever – which won’t happen – to have got the club we can assume the leaks would start all over again given their attitude towards the media.

  1. PAI make themselves look like amateur idiots , Rio would sell out best players , the rest look stupid . Wouldn’t want them anywhere near our club and to do it all in public , so unprofessional. Let’s build the club properly and achieve on the pitch . COYI ⚒
