Ownership change flagged up at West Ham ‘within weeks’ – Report

Image for Ownership change flagged up at West Ham ‘within weeks’ – Report

NOW don’t all get your hopes up just yet. However much tens of thousands – if not hundreds of thousands- of West Ham United fans have been protesting and desperately seeking ‘regime change’ with the ‘No More BS’ campaign, it had been looking to have failed to bring about the regime change demanded by many.

Enter footballinsider247.com with their man in the know Keith Wyness (formerly an Everton CEO and now a ‘football consultant’), claiming that:

“David Sullivan and Karren Brady could be primed to step down at West Ham within weeks:

West Ham United owners David Sullivan and Karren Brady could step down at the end of the season, according to Keith Wyness…Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness says he would “not be surprised” to see Sullivan and Brady leave the Hammers when the season finishes.”

West Ham lost £104M – yet the chair and vice chair soldier on. Probably time for another pay rise.

Wishful thinking more like. Whilst Sullivan is now 77 years old he shows no signs of quitting the club at which he’s enjoyed something of a frosty relationship with supporters. So far the protests have seemingly had little impact on the West Ham chairman – more akin to water off an old duck’s back.

Keith Wyness’ comments reported in football insider do, sadly, seem speculative rather than based on any hard evidence:

“We’ll have to see what happens with West Ham in terms of ownership. There’s got to be questions about Sullivan and the ownership going forward.

“The fans obviously have shown their unhappiness for many months now, many years even, with Sullivan and Brady. I wouldn’t be surprised to see something happening at the end of the season in terms of ownership there.”

Can’t help feeling I’ve heard that several times before. One day, it’ll be true. I suspect it is too much to hope that this summer it really might just become reality at West Ham United.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

If the club is relegated then Sullivan’s position will be completely untenable. If not, then a bit less so, but £104 million loss and a close relegation shave is still completely unacceptable for a club of West Ham’s size, revenue and supporter base. Nevertheless the old “careful what you wish for” chestnut cannot be disregarded. American owners just want to make money and could be expected to screw the supporters, to mess with the culture and traditions, and not necessarily to improve the on field performance substantially. Arab owners want glory, but as Newcastle United shows their money cannot always buy it. Could Sullivan hand over executive authority to someone who knows what they are doing, whilst remaining the majority shareholder ? Doubtful, as his track record suggests that he wouldn’t be able resist re-appointing himself director of football at the drop of a hat. Having him in charge of your football club might be as attractive as having Rachel from Complaints in charge of your personal finances, but unless he sells up it’s difficult to see it changing. And if he does sell up will it be to the highest bidder rather than the best option for the club ? No easy answers, but for sure getting rid of Sullivan would give us all a good feeling.

It’s a bit like the weather forecast, lots of maybe’s , could and possibles, the only things that missing are the definates………I think that it’s maybe possible they could or the chances are they probably won’t leave 🤣, life seems to be one long speculation, I suppose thats what happens when we lose the ability to patient for the actual outcome….

We certainly need to be more professionally run, it’s dangerous territory with owners though as what comes in can be as bad as what you’re rid of. If in doubt blame the board, nine times out of ten you’ll be right.

We are stuck with this ownership for .any years yet , because his son is the one who will take over ! We stuck with that family for a long time yet

  • Kristov says:

Absolute bs , and those pathetic red cards churn my stomach! No way is it 10s of thousands, noisy minority that would do our club a favour by b`******~*g off to orient .
Always makes me laugh when these people think they talk for all of us , definitely the annoying minority as the pathetic sack the board doesn’t go round the whole stadium.

    • Martin Treasure says:

Interesting: Never let it be said that we stifle debate here…..

    • J says:

We listened to all the b******s we were promised about the move to this horrible stadium and where it would take us we are now in serious danger of being relegated
Ten years later and we might be in the championship. And you think the majority of fans are happy with those clowns. Deluded!

But if you don’t like an opinion, we are more than happy to bring that debate down to the level of a slanging match.

Best responses to such opinions are to stand behind the front line and lob aggressive and abusive missiles at the ‘opposition’.

  • D says:

Much as I would like to see it, I can’t. He surely would need someone to buy the club as he and his side kick are not going to run it like a charity. They will probably do the same as before and use it like a cash cow. Allegedly

  • ForReal says:

No-one wants these tinpot, small-time, greedy self-obsessed losers at the club any longer.

    Just go.

  • Roland Austin says:

Staying up would be a miracle.
    Get rid of B & S a double miracle.
Please please please be true 🙏
