Reece Oxford has deleted a twitter post which seemed to indicate his displeasure at not getting a chance last night against Accrington Stanley in the league cup.
West Ham Academy youngster Marcus Browne has sent out a tweet last night which hinted at the lack of first team chances for youngsters. The 18-year-old tweeted: “The youth need feeding.. we hungry out here” before deleting it later after having second thoughts. Afterwards, he re-tweeted a post from Josh Onomah, who scored for Spurs as they beat Gillingham 5-0 in the League cup.
Reece Oxford re-tweeted Browne’s ‘the youth need feeding’ message with an emoji of a pondering look which is used to indicate indicate thinking, or deep thought on the matter. However, after thinking it about it deeply he decided to delete the message from twitter.
Some have taken this to mean Oxford was equally displeased he didn’t get his chance last night after he was an unused substitute last night.
He has since replaced the message with a post saying “Winners never quit #coyi“
Martinez or Fletcher could have played and not been worse then Zaza,
Fernandez got his break and did fine,
Page might get his turn now unless they are going to play Reid as a left back ?
Tore looks a real shocker at the moment so one of the youngsters could hav had his place,
But we got the win Payet and Lanzini will have benifited fron the second half,
The defence looked better and Obiang should start as he gives us something Noble does not
Page is on loan bubs
I can just imagine the outcry from the doom bunch if we fielded a young team & went out. They would have flooded their nappies. They would have started cracking on about not taking the cup seriously 😀
I doubt if anyone want a young team…. a couple of youngsters given a half a game would be nice before they leave to go somewhere where they may get a chance.
He is right the young players deserve a shot, if not against a league2 side then when will they ? He is also right that winners never quit so he should work harder and push himself to gain a permanent place in the first team.
