Paco Jémez has been teasing West Ham supporters this week with his own managerial version of the hokey cokey, but it appears the left leg might just be back in the London Stadium.
Earlier today, the Hammers assistant manager got fans talking on social media by posting:
“But what if it wasn’t the end…?”
The message came just days after a post which seemed to be waving farewell to life in East London.
“It’s been tough, but it’s been worth it.
Thank you Nuno!
Thank you West Ham.
Thank you Hammers!
From now on I’m just another Iron.”
Nuno Call May Have Changed Everything
As the chaps reported earlier on Claret & Hugh, Jémez had been expecting a call from Nuno Espírito Santo today as the West Ham head coach attempted to persuade the Spaniard to commit to another season at the club.
Reports had suggested Paco was not overly enamoured by the prospect of spending a season in the Championship.
However, if today’s social media activity is anything to go by, that conversation appears to have gone rather well from West Ham’s perspective.
Popular Coach Could Stay
Jémez was certainly one of the reasons behind West Ham’s immediate improvement in form following his arrival in January.
His energetic coaching style and passionate touchline antics quickly made him a popular figure among supporters.
If, as now seems increasingly possible, he is patrolling the technical area at the London Stadium again next season, it will be welcomed by many West Ham fans.
So Stratford’s Dynamic Duo are back – that is good news. For reasons Tom Duffy mentions, glad he is back and hope they combine well. Paco was a Spain international CB, so he knows a thing or two about a defensive setup and he seems to have an attacking mindset as well. Maybe Dinos leaves for financial reasons, maybe not, but we’ll need CBs anyhow.
Would be fascinating to know how the pair really do work, in forming the team that goes out onto a pitch on Saturdays. Another vain hope is that they develop their own style of attractive football from all that is out there: Leeds all action, Brentford direct and dangerous, Guardiola, Klopp’s teams, Spanish teams (given Paco), English teams of the past, … Watched a bit of Arsenal against PSG and there was such a contrast in ambition & style of play – 2 opposing concepts. It will be interesting to see what style of play WHU will have, because right now there are many possibilities – blueprints to be drawn up.
Just hope Nuno listens to him a bit more. Towards the end of the season Nuno’s team selections and game management was really poor. Over 20 points dropped from winning positions while Nuno was in charge needs to change.
Well that’s some good news. We need a bit of Paco power to help our team compete well in the new campaign. Well done Nuno for the intervention.
If we hope to bounce right back up this is a MUST
I can only hope it’s true.
Gonzo at last a little bit of comman sense from the club and I for one will be pleased to see him in the technical area for us next season. One other comment, just let them do their job, support not interfere Mr Sulivan. Things may then run a little more smoothly!
Yes indeed Rob mate
Great news couldn’t hope for a better start
