West Ham remain firmly in the hunt for Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The well connected Hammers insider has provided his latest update on the 20-year-old wing-back—having first broken the story weeks before Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the details earlier this week.
Romano revealed that West Ham had a €20 million bid rejected by Slavia Prague, and we previously reported that the Czech club are holding out for €25 million before considering a sale.
Now, it seems the Hammers are refusing to walk away. Ex has reiterated that West Ham remain very interested in Diouf, citing the player’s age, potential, and value as key reasons the club are staying in the race.
According to a previous West Ham Way update, Diouf first caught the club’s eye while scouts were watching Habib Diarra during a recent England vs Senegal youth international. Diouf’s performance that day reportedly stood out, particularly his athleticism and excellent crossing ability.
As reported earlier, Serie A side Atalanta have also joined the chase, so West Ham may face stiff competition. But with the Italians looking like they’ll have to sell before buying, David Sullivan possibly has a brief window of opportunity get get the deal over the line.
I don’t see how, as said in the story, we have watched him once and he’s worth 25mil. I would suggest some poetic writing has been employed!!
Think of Jhon Duran!!!
Ha, ha, Atlanta having to sell before they buy, bet their fans are going crazy as well. I know some people think it’s a strange priority for us given the problems in midfield and upfront, but having top quality attacking full backs on both sides could be a big positive next season, particularly when we play 3 in central defence. Just look at the impact AWB had going forward last season, would love to double that.
I keep trying not to get caught up in these links on the basis it’s going to add frustration in ultimate failure.
Failed again here, if Atalanta are really after him (third in Seria A) then it’s doubtful he’s going to chose a struggling team in rebuild?
So why don’t we just go back with €25m and get it done? The guy is more proven than Guillherme ever was for similar money.
I’d say the risk of missing out is higher than the risk of spending €5m more!!
Yeah HammerDan, the spare £4mil. is small change in the scheme of things.
Although the Guilherme comparison is a bit misleading.
Guilherme plays in a higher value position, therefore the £20mil. could (?) turn into £100mil. but he’d have to be a pretty f***ing epic at left-wing-back to make that sort of fee.
