Crystal Palace are set to rival West Ham United for the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.

The Norway international has been linked with a move to the London Stadium, but a Claret & Hugh source indicated on Monday that “a deal for Larsen is very unlikely”.

Wolves were rumoured to have rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur close to £50m last season, which is twice what West Ham are understood to be willing to pay. Earlier this week, a top London Stadium insider told Sean Whetstone: “He’s only scored one goal this season — they want silly money.”

Doubts Grow Over Price and Attitude

Reports coming out of the Midlands club this season have been less than flattering, with some questioning the striker’s attitude. Wanderers are enduring an even worse campaign than West Ham, and there are doubts in some quarters about whether Larsen is really up for a relegation scrap.

If Crystal Palace do firm up their interest, you would assume there is very little decision to make. With Jean-Philippe Mateta currently receiving painkilling injections and delaying surgery, a move for Larsen would make sense for Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

For West Ham, however, the combination of price, form and competition from South London may be enough to see us step aside.
