West Ham United full-back Ben Johnson appears set to leave the club at the end of the season, with Crystal Palace emerging as the new favourites for his signature.

The 24-year-old academy graduate has impressed with his consistent and reliable performances whenever called upon this season. However, limited playing time under manager David Moyes has reportedly frustrated Johnson, leading him to seek a new opportunity.

Johnson’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Despite not being a regular starter, he has already surpassed 100 appearances for the Hammers. His versatility, with the ability to play on both flanks, makes him a valuable asset. According to reports, several clubs expressed interest in signing Johnson upon his contract expiry.

The Daily Record suggests Crystal Palace, managed by Patrick Vieira, has taken the lead in the race for Johnson. Earlier reports from West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee indicated Palace’s strong interest and a potentially lucrative offer for the defender.

While nothing is official until a contract is signed, Johnson’s move to Crystal Palace seems increasingly likely. This potential transfer would be a blow to West Ham fans, who are sad to see a local talent leave in search of regular playing time. However, we do understand Johnson’s ambition and desire to take the next step in his career.

A shame to see him go.
