Palace problems as Irons get set for return

aaroncresswell-e1444287834803Alan Pardew will be without both Loic Remy and Jonathon Benteke for the clash against the Irons.

And with James Tomkins ready to face up to his old side for the first time aready the anticipation is underway.

Tomkns has revealed that this will be a massive match for him and he could be in for a torrid afternoon should Andy Carroll be back in the squad as expected.

The match is set to be shown on BT Sport 1 and 4  a week on Sunday with an outside chance that Aaron Cresswell will be available for the game.

It looks hard for Slaven Bilic to drop Pedro Obiang who could now be in for an extended run after impressing against Middlesborough and there may be some question mars over ths skipper Mark Noble’s position.

Manu Lanzini looks certain to return for the etirely out of touch Gokhan Tore which will give the Irons a muc more competitive look.

  1. a week Saturday…

  2. At best, Cressie or Carroll coud come of the bench, as it would be the first game for both.
If he does not want to continue with 3 holding players in midfield, then Lanzini could come back at the expense of Noble. I count saturday as Obiangs first really impressive performance for us.
I would like to see Marcus Browne, and Fernandes on the bench.

  3. Are we allowed to mention dropping Noble on this site? On some other sites its like heresy!

    • I’m a great Noble supporter but he is a member of the squad like everyone else, so if it’s better for the team he gets dropped.
I don’t think he’s been worse than the others but it’s a matter of balance.

      • One thing that is refreshing to see is that Slaven doesnt mind subbing him unlike Allardyce & his skipper.I do fear that Noble may have had his Scott Parker type season last year & lack of pace is going to catch him out too often now.I can see why fans are frustrated with him,he set a very high benchmark last year & has been well short this season.
I see fans on the sister site take it almostly personally if he is questioned, why? He is a member of the squad the same as anyone else so isnt immune from criticism or fans questioning his performance.

      • Sleeps both he and Kouyate have been worse, on Saturday they made only 1 tackle between them I think, Kouyate made 3 interceptions, no blocks and no clearances, Noble made 1 tackle, 1 interception no blocks and no clearances. Obiang made, 3 blocks, 3 interceptions and 3 clearances he also had a higher pass percentage with greater accuracy than the other two. These statistics have followed the same trend in all matches this season, our defensive midfielders other than Obiang in the last game are not pressing the ball or tackling, it’s time for Fernandes and Nordveidt to come in for Noble and Kouyate, I would like to see how good they would be and what effect it would have on the team to have wither 2 or 3 pressing midfielders and ideally all 5 with Antonio and Payet also back to their old selves.

  4. I would have preferred it if it had been Christian Benteke missing not his bros 🙂

  5. Nobles been a bag of ******** but you can’t criticise him or the China doll it’s sacrilege to some but it’s fine to have a go at Sacko, Kouyote etc etc and anything else to to do with the club that makes you passionate and part of the #westhamfamily 🙂

    • Write to the Daily Mail GW,they will sort it out lol 😛

      • Another fan who wants the spotlight JB, another fan who thinks that causing a few more issues is the way to go? Yes the club have mugged a lot of people off but to hear about it every day is getting on my nerves.

        • Only on Wetpants could one of them write to the press & then they can turn it into an article for their negative depressing users to enjoy lool

  6. It’s really not difficult, Slav must pick his VERY BEST STARTING 11 , irrespective as to who that ” disappoints ” . Then have a ” strong tactical bench ” . I think we can all see who should and should not be out there to start , and we’d hope Slav sees what we see . I’d like to see Reid given starting Captain’s armband – permanently ( subject to being fit and continuing form ) – and lead from the back ! ⚒⚒⚒COYI

  7. I thought nobes was class last year and expected him to keep up that form, he’s not old,he’s had no issues that I can see that would change his form so much. But if I had to pick another captain, it would be Crezza,Reid is not vocal enough, and usually Cresswell very rarely misses a game.Still I think a lot of people are surprised by Nobles whole demeanor. COYI

  8. Oxford / Cullen / Fernandes / Obiang four midfielders that would offer more than Noble but then again he can’t be dropped apparently as it’s down to **** players around him according to some 🙂

  9. The one player who has shocked me this year with loss of form has been Kouyate ( he dissappeared from view this season ), but even he picked up a bit on Saturday.

    • Agree Sleeps but then again he’s the only one with any pace in midfield and I would guess that now and again he wouldn’t mind running onto a forward pass from his midfield partner not going backwards or sideways?

  10. Some might have noticed I had my say over there yesterday on the negativity a fair number of posters show. Maybe a little harsh but it was how i felt.
imho Noble is a weak link & it’s affecting the balance of the team, by dropping him it will show everyone that no ones place is guareteed. We need to find that hunger again.
