Panic stations as Hammers forward lined up for Real Madrid move

It is supposed to be the season of the rebuild: West Ham’s old regime have, or are, departing the club as contracts expire and loans end. Seven – minimum- of the first team squad are finished. So a major reconstruction is required, however much West Ham claim otherwise. In addition the likely sales of high value assets to provide funds means that Mohammed Kudus Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paquetá (if exonerated) are all likely expendable if decent bids come in.

Which leaves the club threadbare, relegation fodder and fit only for academy growth without new blood.

So when a report comes in suggesting another player is to be targeted by Real Madrid, no less, the fear is that the already thin resources will be decimated. According to sportmole.co.uk, (from Spanish site fichajes.net) the Spanish giants are about to launch a bid for the Hammers only striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Which will certainly put the cat among the pigeons at West Ham. Potter will be sorely tempted, if a decent bid comes in, to rid himself of his injury prone über critical German forward who has become something of a fan favourite: selling ‘West Ham’s German’ will be divisive – of course, depending on who comes in to replace him. Because we can trust the Hammers to bring in someone, can’t we?
