Graham Potter was delighted to welcome Lucas Paquetá back to West Ham training following his omission from the 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday.
The Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge was a closely contested affair, and I’m convinced the Hammers would have won with Paquetá and the much-improved Edson Álvarez in the side.
The Mexican midfielder is also back in training and expected to return for West Ham’s next game against Brentford. However, it is the return of “The Paq-Man” that brings Potter closer to his preferred starting eleven, especially following the recent return of Jarrod Bowen.
Paquetá has arguably been West Ham’s best player since Potter took charge after Julen Lopetegui’s dismissal last month. Deploying the Brazilian in a more advanced role has unlocked his undeniable talent, which had been kept under wraps for over a year.
With the arrival of Evan Ferguson, the new Irons boss finally has the chance to field a team in his image—square pegs in square holes and even an attacking option or two on the bench.
An extended period on the training pitch between the Chelsea and Brentford games, Potter will have the opportunity to drill his methods into the squad.
And at the heart of the manager’s tactical plan will undoubtedly be the rejuvenated Lucas Paquetá
Can’t wait to see the team against Brentford next Saturday ….. and we still got some players to return … happy that Ward-Prowes is back too ….. ⚒️⚒️
With LOSEpetegui every match was heart in mouth time but now we know that we’ll see some quality football and the chance of a good result against any team in the league under the cerebral Potter .
