Alphonse Areola, Jarrod Bowen, and Lucas Paquetá are all absent as Julen Lopetegui announces his West Ham United squad for Saturday’s Stateside Cup match against Crystal Palace in Tampa, Florida.
Although the trio returned to the Hammers’ US training camp this week, they have not been deemed fit enough to play by Head Coach Lopetegui.
West Ham’s lineup appears to feature a back five, including Vladimír Coufal, Dinos Mavropanos, Maximilian Kilman, Aaron Cresswell, and Emerson, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today.
In midfield, Freddie Potts, who has rejoined his parent club after an impressive Player of the Year season at Wycombe Wanderers, will anchor the midfield. He is joined by James Ward-Prowse and Tomáš Souček, who is also experiencing the United States for the first time.
All Hammers starters, along with new signings, are expected to be available for the club’s final pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo at the London Stadium before the Premier League season kicks off.
West Ham United: Fabiański, Coufal, Mavropanos, Kilman, Cresswell (C), Emerson, Potts, Ward-Prowse, Souček, Kudus, Antonio
Subs: Herrick (GK), Robinson, Kodua, Casey, Aguerd, Orford, Kelly, Scarles, Irving, Luis Guilherme, Earthy, Marshall
My guess is that Emerson play left wing in the first half and Guilherme in the second mate.
You called it right Phill mate
No paqueta or Bowen so should we be concerned we lost ? I hope and reckon it will improve.
Hey Gonzo, what’s happened to Maxwell?
Cresswell looks like a spring chicken compared to ages of some of the recent acquisitions.
Contradictory to lowering squad age.
What happened to all the young Brazilian whizz kids?
Hopefully Scarles will get a crack at left back as we’ve only got Emerson.
Can’t see Cresswell doing 90 minute.
