Lucas Paqueta remains a Hammer after what we understand was a Manchester City offer of just under the £70 million widely reported.
And sources close to the player declare that whilst he wants the move of course, he is ready to play his heart out for the Hammers in the meantime.
There are two clubs in football that players want to join at any cost – Manchester City and Real Madrid – which is why Pep Guardiola’s outfit can usually offer less than a player is worth knowing their reaction will be entirely positive.
The Hammers want closer to £90 million but should the Brazilian still be with West Ham come the closure of the window we could have an unhappy player on our hands.
Thus the hammers are in the difficult position of getting the price they want whilst ensuring the player doesn’t become unduly upset if things didn’t work out.
Our source – who is very close to the player – said: “He is thrilled to be wanted by City but will act as the professional he really is whilst talks go on and play his heart out for West Ham
West Ham have a tricky little problem on their hands in getting the price they want with Paqueta so keen to join City.”
If they don’t meet our valuation, he doesn’t go. Fairly straight forward.
