Paqueta hails the fans

Lucas Paqueta has hailed the Hammers fans.

The Brazilian has been in electric form in the last two games, twice providing an assist for striker Gianluca Scamacca.

He has been exceptional when it comes to both passing the ball and with his tricks, as he has repeatedly made a fool of opposition defenders.

Paqueta admits that he is continuing to adapt, and he was delighted with the way he played against Fulham at the weekend.

The Irons won 3-1, with Jarrod Bowen and Mikey Antonio also on the scoresheet alongside Scamacca.

Paqueta also says that the fans have been a key reason for his recent excellent form as he has aimed to pay them back on the pitch.

He told The Athletic“I’m happy with my performance and my assist.

“I’m feeling more comfortable and understanding my team-mates more. I believe I can only get better. I was really pleased with the recognition, the support and the confidence the fans have in me. I hope that I paid it back on the pitch.”

Paqueta also says he is doing his best to learn English as he attempts to fit in with his team-mates in the dressing room, and potentially understand boss David Moyes!

He added: “The language is still very difficult for me. I’m doing lessons and trying my best. It’s important to speak to my team-mates, and the coaches — but I’m dedicating myself to it and I hope to be able to speak a little bit soon.”
