Paqueta heads for Hammers medical

Lucas Paqueta is heading for a West Ham medical today (Sunday) although personal terms are still under discussion with his agents.

However, hopes remain high that the Lyon player will be a Hammer by the end of today or early tomorrow.

The 24 year old arrived in London last night when discussions continued on his wage levels and ClaretandHugh understands that two or three issues – described as “relatively minor” still need to be sorted out.

The player, meanwhile, is desperate to become a Premier League player and although there was early interest from Arsenal they do not have the money available at this stage to hijack any deal the Hammers may agree.

Paqueta’s agents have sent the details of a contract thus far agreed to their lawyer  and although there remain issues   both sides remain confident that the attacking midfielder will join the club and be registered to play for the club early next week.

A source close to the negotiations said: “He will have his medical today whilst talks continue aimed at sorting out the detail on this deal.”
