West Ham appear to be preparing for any eventuality as the outcome of Lucas Paquetá’s FA hearing draws nearer.

The Football Association has extended the time needed to gather evidence in the investigation into the Brazilian’s alleged betting breaches. Many had expected a resolution by now, but the delay has allowed Paquetá to continue representing the Hammers this season, while also fostering speculation that the FA may lack sufficient evidence.

A decision is expected by the end of the year. However, even if Paquetá is found innocent, the club is not confident that he will choose to remain in East London.

Brazilian club Flamengo has shown interest in Paquetá but lacks the funds to complete a transfer. However, several European clubs are believed to maintain an interest in the Hammers’ playmaker and may test West Ham’s resolve if he becomes available.

The loan move for Carlos Soler was a a smart contingency move by the Irons, in the event of Paqueta being found guilty. But it may well require a more long-term solution in the event of him being found innocent.

Sadly we can’t afford to sign Soler long term given PSG pay him over £200k a week?

It is incredible how they can charge him without setting a date and any rush to get it over quickly. I don’t want to know what that does to him mentally, especially if he is indeed found innocent.
