Paqueta: Shock injury update

|

David Moyes has shockingly admitted that Lucas Paqueta may not be fit for the World Cup.

The Hammers star missed Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, as he was not included in the squad for the game at Anfield.

He appeared to suffer a shoulder injury at the weekend in the 1-1 draw with Southampton and there were, inevitably, questions over when he would return.

The Irons play Bournemouth on Monday evening, and it appears that Paqueta is not only a doubt for that game, but also for the tournament which begins in November.

Moyes’ side have seven games before the World Cup and he has yet to confirm if Paqueta will be seen in a Hammers shirt before then.

He said after the Liverpool loss, as per Football.London: “I can’t give you a time, but he’s got a bit of shoulder injury.

“There’s no time frame on him. Not confirmed either way whether he will go to the World Cup.”

Paqueta has had a much more positive outlook on his own injury, posting on Instagram that he believes he will be back in two weeks, having suffered ligament damage in his right clavicle.

I reckon Moyes thought he’d broken his collar bone which is what a clavicle is. if it was broken then we’re talking 6 to 8 weeks out. Don’t know how long to heal if ligament or muscle injury. Player seems to think 2 weeks. Might be optimistic who knows.
