Manchester City’s interest in our own Lucas Paqueta is common knowledge. Depending on which website you read, City have had one or two bids rejected by West Ham. One of the potential bids is believed to involve a part-ex swap deal for a City player.
It’s universally agreed that Paqueta has an £85m buyout clause, which is activated next summer. With the players head already turned towards Manchester, the Hammers are seeking a substantial fee for the Brazilian.
As part of the negotiations, it’s understood that City starlet Cole Palmer is of interest to West Ham. The England u21 attacker is wanted in part-exchange if Paqueta signs for City. Ideally West Ham would like the player on loan, with an option to purchase.
There is also interest from high flying Brighton, who are willing to bid £30m in a straight transfer. It is also understood that there is a development plan and immediate first team place for Palmer at The Amex stadium.
Unappealing swap deal
For the life of me, I can’t think of a single reason why the player would join West Ham. The likelihood of him being used in the first team is negligible. His playing style is also far more suited to Roberto De Zerbi than it is to David Moyes.
Pep Guardiola hinted at Palmers discontent during his Burnley press conference. He suggested the player was desperate for regular first team football. . . . he’ll get it at Brighton.
West Ham will have to move on and move quickly if we are to find Paqueta’s replacement. I thought he produced a committed performance against Bournemouth, which demonstrated his professionalism.
If he does stay at West Ham, then I’m sure he’ll give 100% effort. However, I suspect he’ll depart soon . . . I’m just not convinced that Cole Palmer will he heading in the opposite direction.
There is Lazar Samadzic of Udinese who the press are suggesting is also a player that could fill Paqueta’s slot and has recently angered Inter who had agreed a fee, with additional demands late in the day apparently the price for him was £22m if reports are to be believed..
Cole Palmer would be great but I don’t see it happening.
Well said dirk there is some idiots out there should change this site name to hate Moyes no balance ⚒
You need to check if Aykay is actually a fan!
Maybe we should ask Rice, arnautovic, Antonio (despite him being ungrateful recently) as to whether Moyes ruined their careers? Or all the winning europa League team? And formals looks pretty happy to me, as does Soucek with his new 4 year contract (unless we think he was forces to sign???). And rooney had a pretty good career despite being managed by the ‘terrible’ Moyes. Seriously.
I’m Westham and I would advise palmer not to come near us with a 10 foot barge pole … Moyes would absolutely ruin his career before it even started … look at what he’s done to Benrahma, Fornals , Haller , vlasic ,Scamacca … stifled any creative or killer instincts in them ..
Palmer fits into Moyes’plan perfectly as it allows Bowen to go to CF so we don’t need to buy one
