Paqueta under FA investigation

|

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta is being investigated by the Football Association for potential betting breaches according to Mail Sport.

The Mail claims the move from Manchester City to sign the player West Ham,  has collapsed with  sources citing ‘confidential’ issues.

The newspaper has now confirmed the 25-year-old Brazilian is the subject of an FA investigation over allegations of gambling on football. The specifics are yet to be revealed and in the meantime West Ham nervously wait to see if it will lead to Paqueta being charged by the authorities.

Paqueta impressed in the opening game of the season at Bournemouth. He was substituted in the fourth minute of stoppage time, seconds after receiving a yellow card for handling the ball directly from Alphonse Areola’s goal-kick.

Whether the midfield player appears in the game against Chelsea  on Sunday remains to be seen and that is a tricky one for the manager who will no doubt consider Paqueta’s mental situation given the charges before making a decision.
