Paqueta up for major gong

Lucas Paqueta has been nominated for the Samba Gold award, for the best Brazilian player playing overseas.

Football.London reports that the attacking midfielder has been placed on the shortlist, having impressed throughout the World Cup, despite Brazil’s quarter-final exit.

He has played 12 times for the Irons but has yet to score, though he has laid on three assists, the joint-most in the squad.

There are no fewer than 12 Premier League players up for the award, including the likes of Manchester United’s Casemiro, Spurs’ Richarlison, and Manchester City’s Ederson.

There are also some superstars on the list, including PSG’s Neymar, and Real Madrid ace Vinicius Jr.
