West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá could still leave the club in this transfer window under specific circumstances.
Claret & Hugh asked a top source at the London Stadium if there was any truth in reports of interest in Paquetá and the likelihood of him departing. Speculation has been mounting over the future of the Brazilian, who has scored in his last two games for West Ham.
The Hammers insider told us: “It’s possible, but we’d have to sign a lot of players before we sold him.”
This follows a claim from a source close to the player over the weekend, who told C&H a transfer was “50/50 at this stage”. However, it’s fair to say much has happened since then.
Soungoutou Magassa is scheduled to fly to London for a medical today after agreeing a £17.5m move from Monaco. However, for West Ham to sanction the sale of Paquetá it would take more than just the signing of one player, and the 27-year-old is unlikely to force a move.

So basically once we’ve signed a couple of players that total less outgoings on the payroll than what Paqueta earns p/w, Lucas is surplus to requirements.
We never believe a word Brady or Sullivan say and for good reason.

Wonderful news, the only player who has flair and guile in our turgid midfield is (let’s be honest here) likely to leave before the window shuts leaving us with that midfield dross we saw yet again last night! But don’t worry as I’m sure people close to the owners will assure us that the free signing of Josh Brownhill is great business and he can fill the massive void in class that paqueta leaving will create, whilst we poor fans have to watch ward Prowse and soucek trudge around aimlessly in the most immobile midfield in history.
