Pardew muses Evans options as Irons and City wait

Jonny-EvansWest Brom boss Alan Pardew has made it pretty clear that West Brom central defender Jonny Evans could be out of the Hammers price range reach should he be sold next month.

The former Irons chief may be ready to consider selling Evans – who has been  named in reports as an Irons target – if he has to and said: “There is a scenario that Jonny Evans might move.  There is a scenario that Jonny doesn’t move.

There is a scenario someone else moves. But we’ve seen astonishing figures for defenders all through since the start of the season, really.

“If I look at defenders and compare Jonny with central defenders in the Premier League, he is right up there. It sometimes come down to contract length, the safeguards you have on someone’s contract etc.”

Evans has two and  half years left on his current deal and has been linked to us and Manchester City where he would become a squad reinforcement rather than a first team regular.

The Hammers, meanwhile, are keeping all their options open by casting eyes at Swansea defender Alfie Mawson and bringing Reece Oxford back from Germany.
