It’s taken me a little while to decide whether to write this or not as I don’t want to stray outside the brief this website set for itself when we set out on the ClaretandHugh adventure.
But first and foremost we are human beings with deep emotions and feeling inside our claret and blue hearts so here goes and I hope I write for all Irons everywhere.
On behalf of this site I send our heartfelt condolences to all those who died or are being held captive by unspeakable forces who moved in on a wonderful city last night.
On behalf of Hammers supporters we say: “We stand with you.”
Watching the scenes that unfolded in the stadium as France took on Germany to the sound of explosions outside was a tragedy for football and sport – a unifying force between nations for years.
Fans scared to leave the stadium flocked onto the pitch (seen above) and the German players remained in the stadium all night for security reasons.
It’s truly shocking that such an act of terrorism looks certain to halt the match between England and France on Tuesday and it’s a tragedy for mankind that such psychotic minds are being let loose on the world.
On behalf of ClaretandHugh our thoughts and those of football everywhere are with France and its people today.
Stay safe Paris – stay safe!
Well said. It is so hard to understand the gulf in behaviour of these wicked people..The depth of their barbaric behaviour is as breathtaking as it is destructive. ‘Islam’ means ‘peace’, but these people hi-jack the religion for their demonic purposes…I can’t see any God under any name ever saying “Well done” to these evil deeds….They have a lot to answer for, and will be answerable in the afterlife. Meanwhile the best way to defy such wickedness it is to keep enjoying our lives, and be compassionate to the victims. We stand with you, people of France
Truly wonderful comment – thanks COYI247
Ive actually used it as part of a status on my personal fb page
Very well said Hugh, I can’t believe there will be any dissent from this at all.
The victims have everything in common with us, football fans, people relaxing with friends, music fans etc, all looking to enjoy the week-end. Tragic that friends of life that’s been taken away from them, it’s a good thing to give people on here an opportunity to say how they feel and offer sympathy
Well said Hugh. You did the right thing IMHO.
And so say all of us. 😥
Amen.
