Payet and Valencia escape surgery

|

PayetheavenNews that neither Dimitri Payet or Enner Valencia need operations on their various injuries whilst good news for the players is of little cheer to the fans.

For it is being reported that in both cases lengthy lay-offs remain on the cards with a “lengthy rehab” facing Valencia although he is expected to be fit again by the start of the new year.

Payt meanwhile – having been booked into a hospital bed for surgery today – learned earlier this morning from his specialist there was no requirement for the operation after all.

The official website reported: “Payet attended an appointment with a specialist on Monday morning and, along with the Club’s medical team, he was advised that he does not need an operation.

He will therefore start his rehabilitation programme immediately, but is still expected to be unavailable for selection for three months.”

Commenting to ClaretandHugh, co chairman David Gold said: “I’m pleased for the two players that there’s no surgery involved but it’s still a very disappointing situation. We keep our fingers crossed for earlier than expected returns.”
