Payet fears confirmed

payetWest Ham’s worst fears were realised this afternoon with the news that Dimitri Payet could be ruled out for three months.

The French midfielder has of course been a major factor in West Ham’s fine start to the season following his £10.7million summer move from Marseille.

But Payet, who has hit five goals in 14 appearances, suffered an ankle injury after a challenge from James McCarthy in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday.

And Jack Sullivan, the son of Hammers co-owner David Sullivan, revealed the extent of the 28-year-old’s injury on Twitter.

He wrote: Sadly Payet will be out for about 3 months! Huge miss for the team. How the Everton player didn’t get sent off amazes me!!

Ecuador forward Enner Valencia was also injured against the Toffees with the club awaiting the results of a scan on his ankle problem.

  1. It was only a matter of time before some **** took him out & James McCarthy only got a yellow for it. Some players cant take it that others are so much better than them. I guess we will now see how strong our squad really is.

  2. Payet’s assassination described by our club as a COLLISION ? WTF is going on there !!
What they should be doing is suing the FA for compensation along with Everton. The blatant wreck less foul was meant to injure the player it was committed on.
This would stand up in any court of law.
Its there for everyone to see !!!!!
Not even a apology from Everton or the player proves the point that he was targeted along with Valencia.
Scum maybe to kind of word for this bunch of cheats .
Never to be forgotten when we meet again.

  3. That’s half a season to the benefit of Everton !!!
Not only that Valencia has to be assessed yet .!!!
    Scouse cowards !!!

  4. He was going to need a rest and this was on the cards.
McCarthy does it to one of our players every time.
A tackle from behind is a foul. So many players don’t know this rule. They are the one’s that always complain that they got the ball. Stupid thick footballers who I played with did the same all the time.

We now need for Song to come good, the other players like Moses and Zarate will have to perform to a higher level. Antonio will get some game time now for sure. Let’s hope he isn’t to ****ed off with not playing so far.

  5. Disagree b-d
    They know as did McCarthy!!!
It was cynical and meant !!!
Everton only ever play that way when they face us.
Patsy Holland will tell you that cos he had none of it from em, he just grabbed throats !!!
This is one of the reasons we struggle to beat them, their game plan is always to stop us playing football, they cheat,!!!

  6. This will test for sure our acclaimed depth in strength. As bitter as this is we should be able to expect players like Song, Zarate and Antonio to show why we spent good money on them. It was for just such a situation

  7. I hope Karma will hit everton for doing such nasty things. Still all high-flying teams face injury crisis at some point. I see it as an opportunity for some players to shine even brighter and prove we’re not a one-man team. With Song hopefully returning to the first-team action soon, solid defense and some genius saves from Adrian we should continue our good run. As Leroy already said – Heads Up and Up the Hammers!

  8. !!!!!!!!!!!OMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
