Dimitri Payet is reported to be planning what he hopes is a one way trip to Marseille this weekend!
The treacherous behaviour of the last couple of weeks appears to have been stepped up again according to the Mirror where is reported that things are turning nastier and nastier.
Payet’s behaviour may have been influenced by misinformed reports that Marseilles had bid £25 million yesterday and that it had been rejected.
However, ClaretandHugh checked with its best sources and was told that no such bid had been made by the French club.
Payet has apparently told West Ham that he may be facing a family crisis if he doesn’t move back across the channel. Initially the Hammers gave him time to sort things out but do not believe his inability to do so is their problem.
As a result they are standing firm on their demands for £30-£35 million bids as Marseilles decide on their way forward.
West Ham are still considerinng their position on reporting Marseilles to FIFA on allegations of tapping up and are in no hurry to settle Payet’s future for him.
IMO they should let him go home this weekend.Apart from seeing his family he’s obviously gonna see his agent and Marseille to find out why they are not keeping to their end of the deal.Should he decide not to come back then WH are quite within their rights to withhold his wages for breach of contract and as for reporting Marseille to FIFA I would go ahead with that too. This kind of “tapping up” has to be punished.
Now the dust has settled & we have all had a chance to slag him off it is worth saying it’s a sad end. I can hardly write his name now, but he was the best we have had for years. And on a serious note it shows the problems we face moving up a level. When you do get the odd hidden gem there will either be a problem ( injury/ character) or they will not want to hang around.
Personally I will settle for a well run, financially stable club where you see some good footy, win more than you lose, end up in the top half with no serious relegation traumas & have a few good cup runs. I know that will be seen as really unambitious, but think it is just realistic & it will do me. People quote Leicester but that really was a fluke. Won’t say it will never happen again but it won’t happen often. Unless the financial rules change &/ or the TVs money dries up. And the big clubs won’t agree to financial changes.
Yep it’s real trauma having players like him cos it’s become clear that he is an absolutely selfish ****e, but oh what a joy to have on his day, playing well, doing things we don’t expect and doing it for us. That’s one of the joys of watching sport and it’s poorer without him and the like.
If 25m is offered accept it and get this whole sad episode over with . 125k per week for a player who refuses to play is nonsense . The profit & lowered expenses will have been made .
It does seem like there is more to the story of him wanting to go and play for Marseille.
Rumours abound all time with these situations.
Although I feel he was tapped up by French players at the Euros to play at a CL club I feel he is trying to save his marriage as his wife and kids have moved back Marseille. They want to be back in that environment away from where the indiscretions happened, almost certainly London .
The full story won’t come out for a while.
Meanwhile Payet won’t get back in the West Ham team and thus will be dropped from his beloved French national team
He worked hard with us to achieve his goal
But now ironically he dumped us only to be dumped by France and his wife
Aint never seen so many people cheesed of with him at the club over him having it off away from home. The mush might have some family problems but they have got the snot with him over more than that i say
